Love this dish- only thing I wish is that it had a top- can’t leave it on the counter- have to put it back in the fridge. I like the spreader that came with as well.I really like the quality of this butter dish. It is, indeed, heavy duty melamine. I actually bought it as a spoon rest when my housekeepers broke my spoon rest that I bought in France over 15 years ago. I loathe spoon rests that only have a tiny well where the head of a spoon might sit. I frequently use many other utensils to cook (including turners, spiders, even multiple spoons - we are a family of 6!), and typical spoon rests don't really cut it. Enter this rectangular butter dish - one that won't break if knocked off the counter! There is enough room for two regular OXO utensils and a tasting spoon or fork, and it cleans up very easily, of course. I don't usually have this problem, but on my screen this item looked a bit of a blue-gray; however, in-person it's definitely a French blue. I don't hate it, but it doesn't go with my decor the way I had hoped. I will likely keep looking for a new spoon rest, but I may go with the antique white version. I have also used the butter dish to actually serve butter (go figure), and it fits a block of Kerrygold perfectly. Any European-style butter should fit fine.i gave this a 4 star rating, I kinda wish it was ceramic but I like the design a lot and it definitely won't break easily.So all in all fairly happy and it fits the block style butter like Kerry Gold or others like it.The Palermo pattern is absolutely beautiful and I'm collecting as many pieces as I can!Great size.
